Don’t be afraid to be upside down!

Inversions encourage fresh blood flow, a slow steady breath and focus. Whether you have never been upside down in your life or if you’re modern day gymnast this workshop has something for you. All levels welcomed! Get one-on-one attention that guides you in and out of a safely practiced inversion. Saturdays in March, we will explore not only what it means to be upside down, but what it means to breathe in a different manner.

Not only Headstands, we will visit Shoulder Stand, Plough and Bridge pose. All great inversions, with sprinkles of Flow to prep and warm up the body.

Each session will end in Savasana and meditation

When: March 3rd, 10th, 24th & 31st

Shakira Scott Bio

I am a Berkeley native, East Bay baby all the way. Being raised around artists, musicians, and educators, the yogic lifestyle was a familiar culture that I attempted to explore in 2009. As a dance major in college, I took my first yoga class only to hate it. It would take 5 years to revisit the practice. This time more mature and no longer dancing. Having switched to a physically demanding visual stylist career for many years after college, I had begun developing intense back pain, so I came back to the practice. I fell in love with the results after a few months, but not just the physical body, I noticed how much more calm and aware I was. After studying and consistently practicing, I knew I had to tell my people (Baydesterians) about the magical world of yoga, so I completed my 200 hr teacher training with Yoga to the People in 2015. Coining the title, Your Local Yoga Dealer, I currently teaching at various locations in the Bay Area and San Francisco.

From her family she received the love and legacy of Jongo/Caxambu, a traditional dance specific to the southeastern part of Brazil created by Africans from Congo-Angola who were brought to work compulsorily at the coffee plantations of Rio de Janeiro.

Ama's skills also include education on Raw Living Foods, which she practices on a daily basis. She earned her certificate as a Living Foods Educator and Microgreens Producer from the Course on Living Foods for the Improvement of Health and Environment at Terrapia, a renowned project from ENSP — National School of Public Health in Brazil.

4 Week Inversion Workshop

Womb Yoga Instructor Certification Jan 19th-21st

Womb Yoga Instructor Certification Jan 19th-21st

Womb Yoga Instructor Certification

Friday January 19th, 7-9pm

Saturday, January 20th, 8:30am-5pm

Sunday, January 21st, 8:30am-5pm and Certificate Ceremony starts at 7pm

MaYoni ‘aT Yoga Training Wombuel

MaYoni ‘aT Yoga is the practice of honoring the sacred seat of creation, our womb space, through owning the Goddess. In this practice we are utilizing healing, energizing and balancing postures from the pyramids, tombs and ancient writings of Kemet (Ancient Egypt). We use sacred word vibrations, affirmations and sacred meditation in addition to breath coordination with movements.

We focus on the feminine energies from our ancient ancestors who were cosmic forces and Goddesses. These Goddesses presented as mothers, nurturers, warriors, animals, elements and spirits. We call forth Maat, the divine mother and dedicate our practice to the Goddess Power that lives in us through herstorical channels, rooted in our cellular DNA.

Goddess as a Tool for Liberation is important because the Mitochondria DNA-cellular Structure is our connection to our very 1st Mother and was and is passed on from mother to daughter throughout generations without recombination. This is critical to understanding where our power lies and how we can assess her power.

Goddess as a Tool for Liberation matters because we are retelling our story through our own lenses and not those of an oppressor.
After 500 years plus of rape, societal disrespect, devaluation, patriarchy, sexism and racism, we must stand up and reclaim the legacies of the pantheon of Mama Watas, warrior queens and Goddesses that is our birthright. Linking our future to the documented paths of greatness, written on the walls of Pyramids, in Goddess Temples and our DNA gives us these tools for liberation and MaYoni ‘aT Yoga is one.

We will, through this practice:

  1. Open to an ancient knowing and trusting of ourselves as Goddess

  2. Awaken the mitochondria DNA cellular Chain

  3. Unlock the chain with the key to our legacy

This is a Goddess Journey to opening the Temple door.

We have a gift, a blueprint from our mothers into the wombniverse. We will honor the womb that gave us life and save ourselves as MamaWatas have done through the ages. We save ourselves and we give life to the world.

So be it.

Kemetic Restorative Yoga facilitates a relaxing and restorative space to address stress and reduce the reaction to tension and pressures. It is a meditative, slow and passive practice, where we hold traditional Kemetic and Hatha asanas(postures) for 2-4mins emphasizing the four point breathing method and relaxation for rejuvenation. Through geometric progression and intentional breathing, we move and circulate life force, strengthen the respiratory system, activate the circulatory, parasympathetic nervous system, thyroid and glandular system, massage internal organs and apply moderate pressure to connective tissues increasing flexibility and equanimity. The two hour workshop is a great way to gift yourself or a loved one a mini internal retreat of stretching, lengthening, deepening and releasing during this winter season.

About Lauren:

Natural Mystic Mama, Yogi, Gossian & Space Artivist, with roots from the Bay Area, Lauren “Anu” Wolley Ross is a vegan blagazine author and certified Hatha,RYT200 (Green Tree Yoga & Meditation, South LA) and Kemetic Yoga instructor KYT200(Yoga Skills, Jamaica). Residing in South Los Angeles with a background in community services and rehabilitation, she specializes in Kemetic Soul Flow and Restorative yoga.

Yoga to me is about creating balance(MAAT) that allows us to get in tune with our best selves and our breath. To enhance our breathing is to enhance our lives. There is a healing that comes when we are united in practice. As my grandmother says, “Together is a beautiful place to be.” Ase. My classes embody the idea of "soul flow" where yoga isn't just exercise-it's restorative justice. It's about finding that rhythm rather through breath or movement where your being(essence) is affirmed and your soul is enlightened.  Our practice is the reclamation  of our ancestors sacred movement and the attunement and transcendence of the god body consciousness.

In addition to teaching yoga, Lauren is the co-founder of Black Yogi Day, an annual yoga & lifestyle celebration and conference, emphasizing and honoring the african roots in yoga and healing modalities in Los Angeles; partner to the Historic Leimert Park, Baba's Vegan Cafe, and online blagazine creator of Village Visions LA. She is very passionate about creating access to holistic healing modalities in her community that strengthen our mind, body and soul.
